Old but New - USA 1970

In the last post we saw the stamp that United States will issue in August. That stamp shows the paint of Edward Hooper "The Long Leg" and the lighthouse "Long Point". Here it is another stamp from USA with the work of Hooper.

This is from 1970 and the stamp was released for the 150 anniversary of Maine statehood. The name of the paint is "The Lighthouse at Two Lights" and the lighthouse on it is the Cape Elizabeth East.

Thanks to Daniel from Spain for send this serie from New Zealand (1981).

The "NZ Life Insurance" stamps have a rich history. All began in 1891 with a serie of 6 stamps that had the honor of be the first "postal stamps" with a lighthouse on it.
90 years after, New Zealand ended this family of stamps with the serie that shown at the begining.

Old but New - Sweden 1969

November 17 of 1969.
This serie of 2 stamps were released to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Swedish lighthouses. And this might be the bigger concentration of lighthouses in one stamp.
From left to right, starting with the lever light (primitive form of lighthouse); following with the Falsterbo rev light vessel;  then Landsort lighthouse and finishing with the Svenska Björn lighthouse.

Old but New - Canada 1994

The first "Canada Day" sheet in my collection. This issue from 1994 dedicated to Maple Trees, shows in the label (Top Right) and in the last stamp (bottom right) a stylized lighthouse, maybe inspired in Pachena Point.

Pachena Point Lighthouse
I mentions that this is my first, because there are others Canada Day sheets with lighthouses. The issues from 1983, 1985, 1992, 1993 include a lighthouse in the block. I´m still searching for these sheets.

Old but New - USA 1972

In April 05 - 1972, USA released four stamps  commemorating the National Parks System Centennial. The stamps were emitted in block. In one of those stamps appear the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (*).  Looking for material in a philatelic store, I found this piece of four blocks used. It is not very rare,  but at least I find it interesting.

Catalogue: S 1449   Y 948

(*) Cape Hatteras is a recurrent lighthouse in the emissions. This year it appear in the USA flags serie.
