Also depicted in the stamp, the Fort Central of the Cherbourg. One of many fortifications present in the area.  A lighthouse mounted in a tower (destroyed) functioned here until the ends of the 19th century.  Now, a light under the ALL code of A1478 is mounted in one of the walls of the fort, but it is not visible in the gravure.
