A marine chart of Saint Pierre et Miquelon and Canada was used as a base for the design of the block.  The quality of the image that I found only allow me to show 2 of the many lighthouses whose location are described in that chart.  

Point Plate in Langlade (H-0330) and Cap Blanc in Miquelon (H-0328). The red light zone of both lighthouses are depicted too. They converge over the Veaux Marins rocks.

With a close and personal look of the block, many more lighthouse locations will appear.

The details of the background depicts in a stylized form, the entry to the Getxo Harbour.

This is the Harbour Administration building. Next to it, there is a lighthouse (Santurtzi D-1527) but it was not depicted here.  This is the west side of the entrance to the harbour.  The interesting to us is the east side...

This is the east breakwater (Contradique de Algorta). At the end of the breakwater, that white building is the lighthouse...

Sadly, the ruins of the lighthouse of Capelinhos did not enter in the design for a few meters. But at least, we have the location marked on the map of the stamp.

The Capelinhos lighthouse is the co-star of the most dramatic stamp of our topic. I am talking of the issue in occasion of the 50 anniv of the eruption of the volcano with the same name in 2007.

Also depicted in the stamp, the Fort Central of the Cherbourg. One of many fortifications present in the area.  A lighthouse mounted in a tower (destroyed) functioned here until the ends of the 19th century.  Now, a light under the ALL code of A1478 is mounted in one of the walls of the fort, but it is not visible in the gravure.
