LATVIA - 2016 (II)

Latvijas Pasts released this booklet. And like past issues of lighthouses from the last decade, it commemorates a philatelic exhibition. In this case is Sindelfingen, in Germany.  The design is exactly the same but the stamp looks different because it have 3 margins perforated and the other not, and the most important thing, it have other release date that the original stamp.  20 days later.

This was unexpected... China surprise us with this issue of 5 stamps. Like Russia and the crimean lighthouses, I find this serie very controversial. Why?  These 5 beautiful lighthouses are new, and were builded in the South China Sea. This zone and the mix of the Spratly (Nansha) Islands, reefs,  and artificial islands is in dispute between China, Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia.

These figures and contours of Kiz Kulesi are getting repetitive in this year.  In all these cases I find more interesting the related material than the stamp itself. For example in this case,  the Philatelic Brochure of this issue have a wonderful photo.

Look at the left in the back.  The other big lighthouse in Istambul and very rare to see in stamps.   Ahirkapi (ALL N.4903).
