This stamp depicts a dark period of Sark Island. Around the XV century the island was populated by pirates and outlaws mostly.
A common practice in stormy nights of these pirates was lure lost ships direct to the surrounding rocks using lighting beacons or bonfires.   A leading light to a wreck.

A stamp that describes a similar procedure came from Norfolk Island in 2010.

Issue listed in the PDF File from 2010

But in that case the purpose was exactly the opposite. Women and children lighting bonfires to show the men  and their whaler ships the safe way home at night.
